Video Therapy
In video therapy, sessions do not take place in the therapist’s office but via video (e.g., Zoom), making them possible anywhere. For patients with busy schedules (e.g., due to work or family commitments), this may be the only way to make regular psychotherapy possible.
Studies comparing the effectiveness of video therapy with in-person therapy often find no difference in treatment outcomes. Video therapy therefore does not present a disadvantage for patients. The decisive factor is rather whether patients are generally open to try therapeutic treatment via video.
Requirements
The prerequisites for video psychotherapy are, of course, the necessary technical equipment and a stable internet connection. Additionally, It is important that you have a private space where you feel comfortable and can speak openly.
Process
At the beginning of therapy, at least one in-person session will take place at my practice. This serves organizational purposes, such as signing the therapy contract, but also allows us to get to know each other personally. Psychotherapeutic treatment is based on the relationship between patient and therapist. Often, the first impression is easier to assess in a face-to-face meeting than via video.
If you are generally interested in video therapy sessions, you can simply let me know during the initial consultation or at any point during therapy. It is often possible to switch from a scheduled in-person session to a video session on short notice.
The frequency of video sessions and in-person therapy sessions can be chosen freely according to your needs.
